In last year’s annual report we already anticipated that 2015 could be an exceptional year for two reasons that affect our activity as a mutual society collaborating with the Social Security. Indeed, the enforcement of Law 35/2014 on 26th December, known as the “Mutual Societies Law” and the recuperation of the Spanish economy, have been determining factors in our company’s performance, which has been able to respond with solvency to both challenges.

The Mutual Societies Law has brought about important changes that affect not only the way we interact with businesses but also the way in which we manage health and economic coverage. We have been able to adapt to these new game rules swiftly and effectively: we have increased our care service, consolidated a company assessment model using highly qualified teams that contribute value, and increased the efficiency of our administrative teams.

Aware of the need to take on these new challenges, we count on the most advanced technology for data management and online communication, and have entered the digital world with very positive results. The amplification of the Online Clinic for mobiles and tablets is a real example of the possibilities that the digital era offers us and which we are developing.

We believe that this capacity to adapt and our vocation to serve, proven once again in 2015, has enabled us to maintain the trust of our associated companies and insured workers. To all of them I would like to express my sincerest gratitude.

Furthermore, thanks to the swift adaptation of our organisational structure, resources and processes, we have been able, while adapting to the new regulations, attend to the increased number of insured workers with full guarantee, which last year reached more than 1,300,000. All this within the strictest compliance to the law, as confirmed one year more by the results of the historical assets and management audits carried out by the General Intervention of the Social Security.

By reaffirming its commitment to a public-private collaboration model, Mutua Universal has collaborated one year more to the support of the Welfare State, both through its result and its way of working, respectful and loyal to its one-hundred year legacy.

We have been able to adapt to the new legal framework swiftly and efficiently: by increasing our assistance, consolidating an active assessment for companies and improving the efficiency of our administrative teams.
